Day 48

Today I continued work on my sword.

I finished the base of the sword and it looks pretty neat once it's done.

I learned that you can use a modifier called the "symmetry" to make the whole sword symmetrical. As in duplicate the hilt so it actually goes to the other side and make the blood groove on both sides.

So I selected the symmetry tool

And these are the settings I used

After this I learned how to use the "collapse all" so that it would still apply the modifier but get rid of it from the menu and this makes things look nice and cleaner.

Now I had to do the same with the other side, the Y side

Then I collapsed it and this is the result

Today I learned how to use the symmetry to make a sword look slick lmao.

Tomorrow I will make some finalization on my sword and the base should be done.

Day 47

Today I continued work on my sword.

I got way more done this class than I did last class because of the code red.

I actually finished the handle today and it looks pretty neat in the end.

I start off by moving one of the segments upwards so that I could make this space between the hilt and the handle.

And now when I actually bring out the vertices, there's this space between the hilt and the handle.

Now after this I moved out the vertices on all the side of the handle and it looks pretty rounded now lmao.

This is all I did today but I learned how to move segments around on an object.

Tomorrow I will hopefully finish the base of the sword.

Day 46

Today out school went into a code red lockdown and it was pretty boring because I did like nothing for half the class.

All I got done today was I added curves to ONE side of the handle because that's all I had time to do.

So what I did was select the vertices on the side of the handle.

And then I brought them out a little bit.

I know I barely did anything today and I probably could've done more but I didn't expect the code red and didn't do almost anything prior to the code red lmao.

I learned how to bring out vertices on the side of a box.

Tomorrow I will continue working on the sword and can hopefully get more done.

Day 45

Today I continued working on my sword.

I started working on the handle of my sword today.

I made an extension to the bottom faces by using the bevel tool.

Then I moved it down a bit so that I would have kind of like a connector to the actual handle.

After this I needed to use the bevel tool on the bottom faces and extend it so that I would actually make the handle.

Now I wanted to use a method I've used when I made my hilt and do them in steps by using the "+" button so that it would be easier later on to add some curves to the handle itself.

Now this is how it look when I got to my desired length.

This is all I did today but I learned how to make a handle on a sword and I didn't make the handle all one block but split it into multiple segments so that it would be easier to add curves etc.

Tomorrow I will add the curves for my handle and make it actually look rounded-ish and now blocky and Minecraft-like lol.

Day 44

Today I continued working on my sword.

I added some curves to the sword with my boy Wesley's help before I move on to the handle.

Wesley was sitting beside me today and he gave me some good ideas on how to add curves to a sword.

I started by adding some curves on the blade connecting to the hilt.

Using a process I've done before I selected a few edges and then connected them to make more lines. I did this near the bottom of the blade.

After this I used the scale tool to scale one of the segments down a bit.

And this is how it turned out in the end.

TBH it looks pretty neat and I thank Wesley for the initial idea of adding curves.
After this I wanted to add some curves to the actual blade. Wesley suggested that I make it a bit wider at the top and make it curve down a bit near the bottom. So using the same process of selecting the edges and scaling them down to the desired sizes I got it to look like this:

This is all I did today and I learned that adding curves makes it looks pretty slick and neat.

I didn't learn much today I was just using skills that I've learned before and applying them to my project.

Tomorrow I will start the handle for sure because that's all I have left.

Day 43

Today I continued work on my sword

I finally started work on the hilt of my sword today

So the first thing I did was bring the sides up a bit for where I was gonna build my hilt from so that it would be square and not rectangle lol.

So now to make the hilt you have to select the side polygons and bevel from the sides (just like the blood groove but outwards).

Then I used the bevel tool to bring out the sides to my desired length.

After this, I learned that you can use the little plus button below the numbers to extend another box with the same size that you can move around
.

So I just kept doing that until half my hilt was finished.

Today I learned how to add boxes using the "+" below the numbers while using the bevel tool. And by doing this you can box model a hilt. (or at least half of one for now lol)

Tomorrow I will try to start working on the handle. MAYBE. but we'll see. I have a few other things in mind such as adding some curves to the sword.

Day 42

Today I continued more work on my sword.

I made the sword a bit thinner so it would look nicer.
I used the scale tool and dragged the mouse until it fit the desired length.

Now I wanted to make like a blood groove (whatever you call it) so I had to make a spot in the middle to indent it.
I used something that I did before, connecting some segments together to add more lines.
Now next what I learned to do was use the "bevel" tool. The bevel tool is like extrude except you can change some stuff from it and add some curves etc. So what I did was select the middle poly's and I beveled them inwards.

Now the groove had to also have some points, so I changed the vertices and moved them up a bit.

and same for the bottom

The last thing I did was move the vertices up on the point of the sword so that it would look cooler in the end

Today I learned how to use the bevel tool to make a blood groove on my sword.

Tomorrow I will continue work and hopefully start the hilt......
